Contents
Fe 48 mg (equiv Fe ascorbate 350.784 mg), Zn 22.5 mg (equiv to Zn sulfate monohydrate 61.80 mg), folic acid 500 mcg
Indications/Uses
Prophylaxis of Fe deficiency especially when inadequate diet calls for supplementary Zn & Fe during pregnancy & anemia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tab once daily, may be increased to 2 tabs once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ haemolytic anemia & in conditions w/ increased hypersensitivity & increased body Fe content.
Special Precautions
Do not take more than the recommended dose. Consult a doctor if the patient is taking other supplementation & if any undesirable effect occurs. Patients w/ renal failure.
Adverse Reactions
Allergic sensitization. Epigastric pain, nausea, constipation, vomiting, diarrhea, heart burn.
Drug Interactions
Fe: Interferes absorption of oral tetracycline antibiotics. Concurrent administration w/ penicillamine & antacid may impair absorption. Folic acid: Drugs that may cause folate deficiency including phenytoin, INH, primidone, barbiturates, OCs, ethanol, sulfasalazine, cycloserine, glutethamide, MTX, pyrimethamine, trimethoprim & triamterene. Zn: Interferes w/ tetracycline antibiotics, thiazide & K-sparing diuretics absorption. Decreased absorption & effectiveness of fluoroquinolones; Fe supplement; lansoprazole, omeprazole, pantoprazole, rabeprazole; Al or Mg-containing antacids; alendronate, etidronate, risedronate; cimetidine, famotidine, nizatidine, ranitidine; penicillamine; ciprofloxacin, gatifloxacin, levofloxacin, lomefloxacin, moxifloxacin, norfloxacin, ofloxacin, sparfloxacin, trovafloxacin.
